How this Website Works

Getting Started

  • You will need to register to use this site. Create a username and password that are familiar to you and that you will remember. Make a note of it.
  • You will have to provide your email address so you can receive a new username or password in case you forget yours. Please be sure to enter your email address correctly.
  • On the registration page, fields you are required to complete are marked with an asterisk.
  • In order to view information about laws specific to your state, you must select a “Course Material State” from the dropdown menu. You also must select a Continuing Judicial Education “CJE” state in order to get credit for taking the course.

NOTE: Although we have invited every state judicial education office to post material specific to their state, we cannot guarantee they have done so. We also cannot guarantee that every state will provide CJE credit.
  • Register Now!

Once You Have Logged In

Upon logging in, you will see the "Course Progress" page. It displays a chart listing the titles of the twelve modules and a second chart listing the titles of the civil and criminal case scenarios. The status of your progress through each is indicated in the right column of the chart as "Not Begun," "In Progress" or "Completed."

Note: if you choose to go back to the home page at any time, you will be logged out of the course and will have to log in again to continue.

Timing Out

Programming for the web requires setting a time limit for how long you can be logged in at any one time. We have set this time to 90 minutes, which is the optimum time for an adult education session.

Flexibility using this Website

This website is designed for maximum flexibility so that you can access the components as you need them for your work. You can treat this website as a course and take it straight through or access the components – background resources, modules, recommendations and case scenarios – as you need them.

You can click on any one of the modules to begin the course. We recommend that everyone taking this course complete Module I: Defining Intimate Partner Sexual Abuse and the Nature of the Problem since it provides a thorough overview of the components and prevalence of intimate partner sexual abuse. For an overview of the content of each module, go to Content Overview.
